Legal Defense Fund

On Saturday, July 14, 2007, at the IBCA Board of directors meeting the Legal Defense Fund was passed by a vote 41 to 6.  The Purpose of the Legal Defense Fund is to provide assistance and or funding in situations which may be of general impact on upon the IBCA members.  This would include but not limited to potential or actual litigation and would proposed action or acts by government entities.

The Idaho Building Contractors Association will assess each local association $50.00 per member.  The individual association will choose how they want to produce the funds, either by increased dues or by some other means such as a fund raising event.  When the fund reaches $300,000.00 cap the IBCA will cease to assess the fund until the fund falls to $150,000.00.  At that time the assessment will be reinstated.  If the assesment has been lifted by the state the local association has the choice to either lift the assesment or use the increased dues as they see fit.

Each Association will select 1 committee member and 1 alternate member to serve on the Legal Defense fund Committee.  The length of service is up to each assocation.  You can obtain a copy of the bylaws of the legal defense fund at our office.  Please contact us if you have any questions.

At the conclusion of the meeting Rob Pilot, IBCA President, stated "I believe that in the future we will look back on this day as a turning point in which we took our association to the next level."

Turkey Drive Goes Statewide.

South Eastern Idaho BCA President, Jeff Butler proposed a statewide Turkey Drive for Idaho Food Bank at the annual convention in McCall, ID.  Last year BCASEI collected 745 turkeys, second only in the state to Micron Technologies.  Congradulations, BCASEI!  Jeff would like IBCA to be on top statewide this year for the Turkey Drive.

Each association will set up their own program, then report the Turkey count as a whole for the IBCA.  There will be a traveling trophy that will be awarded to the local association with the most turkeys collected at legislative luncheon during winter boards.  If you would like to help our association in our Turkey Drive for the Idaho Food Bank, please contact us at the office.
